Description
Long overlooked as a 1970s culinary throwback, Chicken Kyiv is back on the menu at a London restaurant in support of Ukraine. 'Il Portico' is donating five pounds from every serving to the Ukrainian Red Cross. The name of the dish, traditionally known in Britain as Chicken Kiev, is in the headlines in the wake of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, as major supermarkets are being called on to change the name on their packaging to Chicken Kyiv, using the Ukrainian transliteration of the city's name rather than the Russian, with the UK's second largest supermarket chain Sainsbury's now announcing plans to do so.
