Picnic, a Dutch food delivery company that also has a presence in Germany and France, is claiming its share of the booming groceries-at-home delivery services market. "We are really there for weekly shopping, for normal families who come back to us every week," says Picnic co-founder, Michiel Muller. The number of "dark stores" where these grocery delivery apps keep their products has grown tremendously in the past several years, but not all residents are pleased with the increased traffic they bring to urban spaces.
