Description
Children aged 12 to 14 are administered a new jab called Corbevax as India expands its Covid vaccination drive.
Developed by the Texas Children's Hospital and manufactured by Indian pharmaceutical firm Biological E, the vaccine is being pegged as a low-cost yet effective option for the developing and under-vaccinated world.
Phase 3 clinical trials were carried out in India involving over 3,000 people, with Biological E reporting Corbevax to be more than 80 per cent effective against symptomatic infections.
Granted restricted emergency use in India last month, the vaccine is yet to receive World Health Organisation approval. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
