Description
"In the end, there is not much to remind us of the memory of Algeria," regrets Louis Bailly, a student in Evian-les-Bains. On 18 March 1962, the Evians accords between the French government and the Algerian FLN put an end to the fighting that had started on November 1st, 1954. Sixty years on, the topic remains a sensitive one for the spa resort town, where there are no traces of the negotiations that reloved the Algerian conflict, largely obscured in local memories by the assassination of the mayor, who was killed in an attack before the talks.
