Thousands of NATO troops, some with little experience of operating in snowy conditions, are learning to survive and fight in freezing temperatures in exercises above the Arctic Circle. Exercise Cold Response 2022, which Norway is hosting this month, is designed to test the ability of NATO member countries and their Finnish and Swedish partners to rescue one of their own in harsh weather conditions. The long-planned exercise has taken on added significance in light of Russia's offensive against Ukraine, a country with equally harsh conditions. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
