Description
At the end of the street of luxury hotels, a small community of corrugated iron shacks go unnoticed by tourists in the seaside resort of Jaco on Costa Rica's Pacific coast. The town is slowly finding its feet again after being rocked by two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, but some locals find they don't reap the benefits from foreign visitors, and hope that the next president will improve the situation in a country that has a poverty rate of 23%. Costa Ricans go to the polls in a presidential election on Sunday April 3, when centrist Jose Maria Figueres will face conservative candidate Rodrigo Chaves. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
