Description
Indonesian Muslims perform prayers at the Istiqlal mosque in the capital Jakarta to mark the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan.
Thousands of worshippers gathered at the largest mosque in Southeast Asia, as the government has allowed the use of worship places at full capacity. "As we are now allowed to perform mass prayer like this, it will give more power to our prayer so the pandemic in the world will end soon," said a worshipper.
In Indonesia, the world's largest Muslim majority country, followers of the Muhammadiyah organisation began the holy month on Saturday, while those affiliated with the Nahdlatul Ulama, the country's largest Muslim association, will begin on Sunday. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
