On the road to Kyiv, Ukrainian residents of the village of Obukhovychi say that Russian forces dug trenches around their houses to hide their tanks and armoured vehicles. One villager accuses the Russian army of using them as a "shield" to discourage counter-attacks from Ukrainians defending against the invasion, whilst another says that the Russians told the villagers they were being targeted by the Ukrainian army.
