Description
Suspended in May 2021 due to the revocation of an environmental permit, the construction in Denmark of parts of the Baltic Pipe Project, which links Norway to Poland, resumes with the granting of a new permit.
With an annual transport capacity of 10 billion cubic metres of gas, the pipeline is intended to help Warsaw reduce its dependence on Russian gas.
"For Denmark it is very good (...) because now we have a new safe source in the Danish system, but most of this is going to Poland," explains the Danish project manager at infrastructure manager Energinet, Søren Juul Larsen.
Slowed down due to the suspension of work, the pipeline is due to be fully operational by 1 January 2023. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
