During Easter, animals of all kinds have been blessed in Los Angeles for good health since at least 1930. The practice is continued to this day.
Archbishop José Gomez blessed dogs, cats, birds and other animals parishioners brought.
"He survived a mountain lion attack a year ago. He’s recovering and I just think a good blessing will give him a long life," says Pamela, who came with her llama named Santiago.
