Description
Anti-government protesters and families of victims mark three years since the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka as they gather in front of the Shangri-La Hotel in the capital Colombo.
A series of suicide bombings on three packed churches and three luxury hotels, including the Shangri-La, on April 21, 2019 killed 279 people and injured more than 500 people.
Sri Lanka is grappling with its worst economic downturn since independence in 1948, with regular blackouts and acute shortages of food and fuel in addition to record inflation.
The crisis has caused widespread misery for Sri Lanka's 22 million people and led to weeks of anti-government protests.
