Description
After more than a decade of drought, Chile's capital Santiago is beginning to adapt to the semi-desert climate. In 2021, the rainfall deficit was 71%, making that year's winter the driest of the 21st century, according to Chile's Meteorological Directorate. Grass and water-intensive plants have been replaced by less water-intensive ones, while rationing is being prepared if the rain fails to come. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
