World military expenditure passes two trillion dollars and reaches an all time high figure according to the annual report of the peace research institude SIPRI. Dr. Diego Lopes da Silva, Senior researcher at the organisation expects expenditure in Euroepe to increase again in 2022 due to the war in Ukraine and explains that Russia’s ability to invest in its military will depend on the effects of the sanctions and the price of the gas and oil from which the country gets most of its revenues.
