Description
In a quiet room in the Australian town of Geelong, a small group of actors with disabilities gather to rehearse for their first shows since winning the Ibsen Prize, often called the Nobel Prize for theatre. Back to Back Theatre is the only Australian company to have won the coveted $2.5 million Norwegian kroner (USD$ 247,000) award with the selection committee saying they had "created some of the most memorable productions of twenty-first-century theatre". All of Back to Back's actors are neurodiverse, which means they face a range of intellectual disabilities and challenges, such as autism -- a fact the theatre's work both embraces and subverts.
