As the 2022 Mining Indaba opens in Cape Town, South African Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Gwede Mantashe emphasises the importance of the African continent benefitting from the minerals industry in its entirety. Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema says politicians must drive the industry forward, but accepts it remains under threat from conflicts in mineral-rich countries.
Speaking to a packed auditorium, Republic of Zambia president H E Hakainde Hichilema admitted that despite the continent having enough power ( electricity) to drive industry, this elected have failed to do their jobs they were elected for.
The Mining indaba continues in Cape Town for the duration of the week. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
