Robert Dalsjö, a specialist at the Swedish Defence Research Agency says during an interview with AFP about NATO membership for Sweden and Finland that "there are speculations about a very compressed timetable, even getting things over with before the end of May." Finland's president and prime minister have said that they were in favour of joining NATO and a formal decision would be taken this weekend, after Russia's war in Ukraine sparked a swift U-turn in opinion.
