Description
Sri Lankan protesters mark Vesak, the most important religious event on Sri Lanka's calendar, which celebrates Buddha's birth, enlightenment and death. Families with young children waved Sri Lankan flags and participated in anti-government demonstrations, which have been ongoing for weeks, in front of the President's office in the capital Colombo. "From 2020 onwards, 2021, to this year 2022 we didn't have this celebration done properly, the way people want, so I feel very sad for this," says Chamila Perera, a housewife who was at the protest with her family. "Enough is enough. In my grandfather's time, my mother's time, lots of problems have been faced and I think the future has to change. The future of Sri Lanka has to change immediately before it is too late," said 18-year-old student Jacob Fernando. +COMPLETES VIDI32A62TP_EN+ IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
