Description
Libya's prime minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah, a 62-year-old engineer and businessman who once held posts under Kadhafi, was selected on February 5th 2021 by a forum of 75 Libyan delegates at the UN-led talks in Switzerland in a bid to salvage the country from a decade of conflict and fragmented political fiefdoms. Libya's eastern-based parliament passed a no-confidence vote in the country's unity government, in a new blow to UN-backed peace efforts. Eighty-nine of the 113 MPs present in the eastern city of Tobruk voted to withdraw confidence from the Tripoli-based administration of interim Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah, three months ahead of planned elections.
