Qatar Airways announces several match day shuttle flights between Doha, Dubai, Muscat, Jeddah, Riyadh and Kuwait City during the World Cup, to help ease pressure on accommodations and allow fans to take a day trip to attend a match in Doha and be able to return to spend the night elsewhere in the region. In a major operation to cope with the four-week long football tournament, Akbar Al Baker, tourism minister and the Qatar Airways chief executive, said some routes to countries not involved in the 32-nation tournament would be halted and others reduced.
