Exhausted people, mostly women, children and elderly residents, are hurrying through an east Ukraine checkpoint towards Red Cross busses, desperate to complete their flight from Russian-controlled territory. The residents fleeing Moscow's military grip are crying or carrying dark complexions, a testament to the blunt realities of life in east Ukraine ushered in by Russia's invasion in late February.
