Description
Opposition figure Victoire Ingabire reacts to the cancellation of the first flight that was supposed to carry the first group of migrants from United Kingdom (UK). This is part of a controversial deal, signed by Rwanda and Britain, to deport illegal migrants to Kigali. The plan aims to discourage desperate migrants from attempting to cross the English Channel by flying them some 6,400 kilometres to Rwanda where they are expected to stay for good. Both Britain and Rwanda have faced criticism at home and with at least two UN agencies in response to the controversial plan. "There is no democracy, that is to say that the situation they have fled in their country, they are sent to a country where they will find themselves facing the same" she comments.
