During a hearing before Colombia's peace court, senior commanders of the former FARC guerrilla organisation admit for the first time their guilt in front of the victims of the more than 21,000 kidnappings they were accused of. Following the peace agreement with the then-guerrillas signed in Havana in 2016, the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) charged senior commanders in 2021 for crimes against humanity related to the thousands of kidnappings and other crimes such as torture committed between 1990 and 2016.
