Afnan Almarglani, the first Saudi woman to be certified as an autocross instructor, coaches her students Taghreed and Shaykha at the Derab circuit in the Saudi capital Riyadh. "The challenge the driver faces is that they're racing against time," Almarglani says, adding that autocross training can help women face their driving fears and increase their confidence. One of Afnan's students, Shaykha, felt like she was sitting where she "belonged", the first time she joined her coach on the circuit.
