The civil war between the ruling Mozambique Liberation Front (Frelimo) and the anti-communist Mozambican National Revolution (Renamo) ravaged Mozambique from 1977 to 1992. A new outbreak of violence rocked the country from 2012 to 2019, until a peace agreement was signed. In central Mozambique, the rebellion's historic stronghold, the fighters are gradually returning to civilian life, but not without difficulties.
