Twenty Maasai pastoralists from northern Tanzania appear in court after being charged with the murder of a police officer during protests over a government push to reserve 1,500 square kilometres (580 square miles) of land to create a wildlife protection area. The Maasai have accused the government of trying to force them off their land in order to organise safaris and hunting expeditions.
The court case has been adjourned to July 14 as investigations continue. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
