Description
A large reservoir near Las Vegas is drying up in a grueling decades-long drought and its receding waters are leaving behind the usual flotsam and jetsam of a lake heavily trafficked by weekend boaters. But also bodies.
One recent find caught the attention of Mob-watchers: the skeletal remains of a man who had been shot in the head, stuffed in a barrel and tossed in the lake four decades ago. Geoff Schumacher, vice president of the Mob Museum, thinks it could be the body of a Las Vegas casino veteran named Johnny Pappas; “Right before he disappeared, he told his wife, he was going to lunch with someone who was interested in buying his boat,” says Schumacher.
