Artisans still practise generations-old trades in the narrow alleys of the UNESCO-listed medina of Tunis, but while parts of the ninth-century medina are packed with tourists during the day, it is largely deserted at night and at the weekend. That's why business owners and cultural heritage specialists are organising events as part of their drive to attract visitors during this time, when the historic area is least busy.
