Havana's streets appear calm on the one-year anniversary of unprecedented anti-government demonstrations of July 11, 2021. For 64-year-old Maria de los Angeles Marquez, citizens avoid going out to protest because of heavy sentences, which in some cases can be up to 25 years, as happened to some of those who were "caught on July 11" for participating in the spontaneous outburst of anti-government ire.
