"We are battling fires that are still moving ahead," says the head of the Gironde fire brigade, Marc Vermeulen, during a new update on the situation in La Teste-de-Buch. Two massive fires in France's southwest have been raging on for seven days and burnt 14,000 hectares of vegetation, even reaching the ocean.
