Description
As Britain faces its hottest ever day, all trains are cancelled from London's King's Cross station, leaving travellers stranded. Some are stoic, with marketing worker Rachel King saying, "We can't change it. It's better to be safe, isn't it?", while others are less patient, with photographer Ashley Meerloo asking, "They’ve got trains in Australia... What’s the problem here?" The UK's Met Office said 39.1 Celsius (102.4 Fahrenheit) was provisionally recorded in Charlwood, near Gatwick Airport, south of London. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
