"The situation is increasingly favourable," says Ronan Léaustic, the sub-prefect of Arcachon, at a briefing on the subject of the fires that have been ravaging Gironde for the last 10 days. According to Lieutenant-Colonel Olivier Chavatte "the fire will be fixed as soon as we are certain that there is no longer any possibility (...) of it spreading outside the current perimeter".
