Cameroonians prepare to welcome French president Emmanuel Macron on his first trip to Africa since his re-election last April. The visit comes at a time when France is undertaking to "renovate" its military partnerships on the continent to maintain its strategic competition. Cameroonian civil society actors have high expectations of this visit, including the Network of Human Rights Defenders in Central Africa (Redhac) who hope human rights will be a central topic of discussion between Macron and his Cameroonian counterpart Paul Biya.
