Description
Dozens of migrants from Texas arrive in New York on buses chartered by Republican leaders who are vying to make a political point on US immigration policy. Gustavo Mendez, who left Venezuela and traveled 41 days north, is one of them. "They gave you a choice," 40-year-old Mendez says of his journey on the bus as he finds himself outside Port Authority Bus Terminal, where he was dropped off. "I don't have the resources to go anywhere else." Since May some 4,000 asylum seekers and refugees have arrived in New York City, according to local officials, who have voiced plans to open new intake centers to accomodate the influx of people.
