Description
Some 5,000 of the 6,000 residents of Belin-Beliet, in southwest France, had to evacuate their homes Tuesday night because of the resumption of fires. Three days later, the streets are empty, and almost all the shutters are down. The gendarmes are patrolling for possible looters and residents who refuse to leave their homes. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
