French Justice Minister Eric Dupond-Moretti says the go-kart race organised at Fresnes prison as part of events inspired by the TV game show "Koh Lanta" was an "initiative of the prison director with the organiser". "Had I known that a karting competition was being organised, I would have vetoed it (...) I was never informed," the Justice Minister told the press during a visit to the Fleury-Merogis prison.
