Description
Leaders of opposition political parties and civil society associations in the Central African Republic gather in the capital, Bangui, for the first meeting of the 'Bloc des républicains pour la défense de la constitution' (BRDC) to protest against the attempted revision of the Central African Constitution. Central African President, Faustin-Archange Touadera, recently set up, by decree, a committee to draft a new constitution. The opposition fears this is a manoeuvre aimed at "blowing up the locks limiting the number of presidential terms to two" in the country. This demonstration, which was authorised by the government, is the first by the opposition in several years, as it was previously prohibited. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
