Description
The US Navy's USS Tripoli amphibious assault carrier made a port call in Singapore on its maiden deployment.
The ship arrived at Changi Naval Base on Wednesday on its first port call outside Japan after operating in the South China Sea.
The 844-foot long vessel is carrying about 2400 sailors and marines on board, as well as six F-35B fighter jets.
The amphibious assault ship was commissioned in 2020 and left its homeport in San Diego in May on its first deployment. It resembles a small aircraft carrier and can carry a variety of aircraft and landing craft. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
