The French defence industry can play "a crucial role" in modernising Australia's military, says Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Richard Marles. Marles is visiting Brest in northwestern France to rebuild ties with France, meeting with French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastien Lecornu, who says France has an "imperative duty to create operational intimacy between the two armies".
