Addressing the press outside 10 Downing Street, outgoing British Prime Boris Johnson says he will offer "nothing but the most fervent support" to his successor Liz Truss and her government, as he prepares to leave for Balmoral to tender his formal resignation to Queen Elizabeth II. Johnson, who was forced to quit after losing the support of dozens of his ministers, hands over power after his momentous tenure dominated by Brexit and Covid was cut short by scandal, and plays down rumours that he is seeking a political comeback.
