In Saint-Emilion, a much sought-after corner of Bordeaux, one hectare of land can be worth millions, while a bottle of wine will sometimes fetch more than a thousand euros. This is mostly thanks to the coveted rankings of Saint-Emilion wines, held every ten years and which give the vineyards a certain prestige. The latest assessment, which is set to drop on Thursday, could see the value of Jean-Luc Thunevin's vineyard double overnight. "It's the reward, or the non-reward, for your work," he says.
