Description
Flooded farmlands in Pakistan’s southern Jacobabad look like vast lakes after record monsoon rains in August 2022. Sitting in makeshift camps the farmers that until recently worked these fields say they won’t leave the land of their forefathers. In May, the city in Pakistan's arid Sindh province, was gripped by a heatwave with temperatures peaking at 51 degrees Celsius (124 Fahrenheit). Now they are faced with yet another environmental catastrophe. More than 33 million people in Pakistan have been affected by the floods. Climate change has been blamed for the unusual monsoon and flooding. The floods have caused at least 1,300 deaths and washed away homes, businesses, roads, and bridges. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
