Description
Egypt is calling time on unfulfilled pledges that have left African countries disproportionately battered by climate change, Egypt's environment minister Yasmine Fouad tells AFP, in preparation for COP27 in November. Part of Egypt's role as host this year is to "represent the African continent and its needs clearly and explicitly: we were not the cause of these emissions, but it is us – our people and our natural resources – that are affected," Fouad says in an interview on the margins of a conference aimed at highlighting "Africa's needs and ambitions towards the climate change agenda."
