Migrants cross the Rio Grande (also known as the Rio Bravo) from Mexico to the US, where they turn themselves in to US border authorities in the hope of attaining asylum. According to an AFP journalist and a local NGO, hundreds of Venezuelans crossed the border at the weekend after hearing testimonies from fellow migrants that US authorities would grant them asylum after crossing the border.
