Description
The Czech Republic's foreign policy will not change with the country's new president, says independent political analyst Jan Kubacek. On Saturday January 14, 2023, former NATO general Petr Pavel narrowly won the first round of the Czech presidential election. He scored 35.4 percent of the vote against 35 percent for former prime minister Andrej Babis, a billionaire populist. The two will now square off in a second-round run-off on January 27-28. The winner of the run-off will replace incumbent veteran Milos Zeman, whose second and last five-year term expires in March 2023. SOUNDBITES
