Description
Genaro Garcia Luna, the powerful former security secretary in the Mexican government of Felipe Calderón, is about to be tried in New York on charges that he helped the Sinaloa Cartel, during the time of Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, smuggle 53 tons of cocaine into the United States. Investigative journalist Peniley Ramirez, who studied Garcia Luna for ten years and wrote a book about him, explains the importance of this trial, the "most relevant" one to have derived from the 2019 trial of El Chapo.
