A shelter for stray dogs in the Ukrainian city of Kharkiv insulates their kennels with donated rugs. After putting out an appeal on social media for the local residents to strip their floors and walls, the shelter has received in just a few days over one hundred rugs. As winter creeps in, the rugs are cut in pieces and placed inside the kennels. Olga Golubeva, spokesperson for the Kharkiv Centre for Animal Treatment, says they use rugs because they are "made from natural wool, or partly from wool, so they can heat fairly well and block cold air from entering the kennel."
