The trial resumes in Mali of the 46 Ivorian troops whose detention has sparked a diplomatic row between both countries. They arrive for their trial in the capital Bamako ahead of a January 1 deadline set by West African leaders for Mali to release the soldiers or face sanctions. Originally 49 had been held after they arrived at Bamako airport on July 10. Three, all women, were later freed.
