In Donetsk Oblast, groups of Ukrainian volunteers carry out the difficult but important task of finding the bodies of those killed in the war and returning them to their relatives, using the personal items found around their remains to identify them. "We have to show people that we are doing good deeds" says Andrii Simeyko, one of the volunteers, "you don’t need to fear the dead bodies. They’re already dead. They won’t do you any harm". The team's priority is to collect the bodies of Ukrainian soldiers found in formerly occupied territories, but every Russian body is also crucial "because it can be exchanged for that of a Ukrainian" explains Oleksiy Yurov, head of the NGO "Platsdarm".
