A Belgian bakery is hiding real 500-euro gold coins in its traditional Epiphany cakes, the "Galette des Rois". "It came to me just like that" says Luc De Weerdt, the owner of the De Weerdt bakery in Brussels. "It's been so successful every year that I've made it three coins, four coins this year". Despite this success, De Weerdt isn't immune to the economic crisis sweeping Europe. "It is more expensive this year" he explains, "because the butter has gone up, the flour has gone up, the almonds have gone up a lot". Queues for the cakes form in the early hours and in previous years the bakery has run out, disappointing those waiting, something De Weerdt is keen to avoid this time. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
