Ukrainians celebrate Orthodox Christmas in the country's second largest city, Kharkiv. As part of the annual Vertep Fest, an event organised by scouts and volunteers since 2017, children in traditional costumes sing carols and share the Holy Fire, joined by famous Ukranian poet Sergiy Zhadan. Before Russia began its full-scale invasion, Vertep Fest included a Christmas procession on Sumska street, Kharkiv's main street.
